Sauna Experience

A 55-minute self-led hot & cold experience.

Please Note all Saunas are currently situated on Q lake. The lake Willow tree has sturdy steps but no hand rails and Steamy Sky view has temporary steps which are quite large with no hand rail. This is all temporary but may effect your sauna choice.

The Shepherd's Hut is temporarily unavailable any bookings for it will now be in Steamy

There are three wood-fired saunas available for booking that are currently situated by the side of the Q Lake. All the Saunas will have sloped, not stepped entries into the water. Q Lake is a temporary home whilst we give Sauna Corner on M Lake a bit of a facelift. They will be here until the end of March.

The Sauna experience is 55 minutes long giving you the chance to alternate between hot and cold throughout that time. We recommend 10 minutes or so in the sauna, remembering to add a scoop of water to the coals during this time and letting the wonderful steamy scents of our Holistic Kitchen Oils wash over you. Follow this session in the heat with a short dip to cool down then back in the sauna and repeat. There are many physical and mental health benefits to contrast therapy and once you’ve tried it you are certain to be hooked.

Please note that a sauna booking includes access to the lakes for the day, therefore please do not book swimming separately if you have booked a sauna.

Saunas can be booked as an individual ticket in our group saunas or as a private booking where you have sauna just for your group.

Lake View Sauna (Thurs-Mon)

The Lake View sauna, which came all the way from Estonia has panoramic views from the large glass window. Its low ceilings give a cosy feel yet it still seats up to 8 people very comfortably (or 10 for a private booking). Its large window overlooking the M Lake is the perfect spot to watch the world go by and gives you the chance to spot PBF’s famous kingfishers. When steam is added to the coals this window steams up but quickly de-steams to reveal the fabulous views.

During March The Lakeview and the Sky View run on the same time schedule so when both are open they can be booked together to accommodate up to 20 people for a private booking - check the online calendar for availability. From April onwards this changes and the Shepherds will be available at the same time as the Lakeview. (The Shepherds hut will not appear back online until the saunas are back M lake)

Steamy Sky View Machiney (Weds & Fri-Sun)

Steamy is the latest addition to our sauna family and the sister of our Willow Tree Sauna. It is our largest sauna and has been made to our specific design by our fabulous friends at the Yorkshire Hut Company. Steamy is our only Sauna to have glass roof panels meaning you can also watch the clouds go by, or star gaze on an evening booking. It also hosts the largest window and has beautifully high ceilings making it extremely bright and airy being our most spacious Sauna it is available to book for 10 as a private booking. We are keeping the maximum number when booking individually as 8 as experience tells us that this is a good number and the sauna doesn’t become too noisy with chatter.

Please Note: This Sauna has currently had Temporary steps so there are no hand rails and the steps are steeper… if you have knee/hip/mobility issues we suggested booking Willow Tree or Lake view.

Willow Tree Sauna (Every day except Tuesday)

The Willow Tree sauna was made especially for us by The Yorkshire Hut Company. Tucked away in the corner of The M Lake, this stunning sauna, is sited next to a willow tree - it really is quite special. Seating 8, it has a large vestibule to hang your robes and leave your valuables in, a large decking area and steps leading directly from the decking into the lake. The large window makes it a perfect place to unwind and watch the wildlife go about their business. Individual or private bookings are available within the time slots shown on the availability calendar.

In March The Willow Tree sauna runs at times offset to the Sky View and Lakeview- In April onwards it will run at the same time as Sky view- check the online calendar for availability.

Things to note:

Head to our little reception hut under the Willow Tree in the yard, opposite the cafe, when you arrive.

Please ensure you take water with you and a towel to sit on while in the sauna. It’s also a good idea to bring a second towel to dry yourself with afterwards too.

Sauna availability can be seen and bookings can be made via the “Online Bookings” tab.

All Sauna Sessions MUST be pre-booked online.

Swimming and access to the lakes for the full day is included in your sauna booking

There are no saunas available on Tuesdays
